Mk 5 Tow Bar - Bent

Recommended Posts

Hi All, Its been a long time since I posted on here, but I'm hoping someone can confirm something for me.

A lady at work had a low speed collision with a mk 5 golf, damage to her Bora was a puncture through the front bumper caused by the gents tow bar and seems only cosmetic in nature, I haven't had the bumper off to inspect the slam panel or whatever is behind, but air bags etc not triggered.

She knows my background so I agreed to look at the gentleman's car, and the tow bar does seem to be offset from centre, with some marks on an inner panel suggesting the tow bar had flexed and recovered, but not snapped due to the impact.   I'm just surprised that given the minimal damage to her Bora, that what should be a seriously robust tow bar could be damaged in this way!

Can someone confirm that mark 5 factory fit tow bars are not bent to begin with!!?  And any recommendations for someone cheap who could fit or straighten the bar up please in Belfast?
