Mk3 Golf Cab #nohomo

Recommended Posts

After some peer pressure from a few dubious friends I picked this up during the week. I've no idea why I have it or what I'm going to do with it but I know it wont stay standard although what happens will be on a tight budget.

131k on it, full stamped service history to 110k with mots, everything works including electric hood, glass back window, no rips or tears.

Bodywork lets the car down really. No rot or welding which is rare for a mk3 but a bit scabby and it's been keyed. That'll be sorted though.

I'm the least likely looking convertible man ever but I love this lol

So after 2 weeks of running about the cab seems to be a good going car.

I'm currently waiting for coilovers, stubaxle spacers, and Hubcentric spacers arriving.

First purchase was by Lee. She sniped some 16x6.5 Renault steels on ebay for me and we put her tyres on them.

Last night we decided to get it ready for Mullingar this weekend. 5 of us stripped it last night, did a few very quick repairs, stuck on two fresher wings which hadn't been kicked by someone and haired it down. It's far from perfect but it's getting a quick blow over of army green (going back to my roots) to freshen it then it'll get painted to my proper plan over winter.

Here's how it sits currently.

I duno why the pictures are sideways but I'll fix it when I get to my laptop

@Coltwee funny i got this about 8 years ago to do the polo with then I decided to do it gloss. I've been sitting on this and even hiding it from my dad cos it's the last of our 2k stuff.

Saying that I did get offered another 10 litres the other day by the guy that got me this so I might take it. Using this stuff scares me though. It's proper old school 2k with all the death inside of it. Really isn't good stuff

Common knowledge now @Veedubboy lol

Made good progress  last night. Got the car stripped of all masking film etc and refitted the trims.

Paddy and Browne tried their hand at cleaning and conditioning the roof. A lot of the green mold is off but still some remains. It's a lot better than before.

I helped Stefan fit the front coilovers while Matt and Lucy taped up the bumpers for paint.

While I painted the bumpers Stefan and Paddy fitted the rear coilovers.

Here's 2 awful picture of it this morning. I'll get more pics tonight of it sitting on flat ground when fitting the wheels

Back at it again tonight. Got most of the list ticked off. H&R adapters fitted (can't stress enough how much I love the quality of these), wheels on, bumpers on, badges fitted, did some stencils, set the camber to - 1.5 on the front, etc.

All that's left to do is fit the fog light, blanks, side markers and front under tray so it's pretty much done.

The coilovers and top mounts are new so they should settle 5 or 10mm and ill be happier

Now some pics

I fitted the last of the trims on Friday evening and headed over to Banbridge cavalcade where Andy snapped me driving in

I fitted some Kamei airscoops in place of the foglight blanks on Saturday and gave it a good scrub for heading to MLVW show in Mullingar on Sunday
