Tax Query

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to find a way around a problem. I plan to tax and insure the polo all on the same day. Surely I can't tax a car without physically having an Insurance Certificate in my hand. Therefore I'd have to wait a week (or however long the insurance company take to post the docs) before I can tax the car. Can anybody think of a way around this that doesn't involve taxing/insuring the vehicle BEFORE friday.

You used to be able to ask the insurance co. to fax the certificate to the tax office directly' date=' not sure if you still can, best ask the tax office and if so get the fax number.[/quote'] was going to say this. alot of companies also now just email you your documents when you take out the policy then you can just print them off in the house. maybe worth asking your company if they can do this.

Do most insurance companies not hold all your documents online now so you can access them anytime? I've printed off my insurance certificate straight after paying the deposit

When you ring up to tax the car. There look up a database and if the car is insured you are all go.
What he said, I've been taxing cars this way for past few years. Makes you wonder why the tax offices can't have the same system to save you bringing all the docs down. It's sooooooooooo much handier saves queueing etc
