  1. Rust Repair and Respray

Yes, if it is OE paint there should be no reason why the dealer can refuse but they will try, if it is original paint and the dealer agrees it is and refuses then escalate it to VWUK, there is a 24 page thread on UK Passats regarding the issue and while there were a lot of refusals apparently now VWUK have told dealers to honour it, that's if it is from the inside out caused by the liner.
  2. Rust Repair and Respray

Did they tell you the micron thickness of the paint? I wouldn't take it as read that is has been resprayed, not saying that all dealers will wriggle out of it but some have tried, from what I hear the thickness should be 130 microns or less if it has been mopped at any point, maybe get a second opinion?
  3. Rust Repair and Respray

Check with your dealer first as this is a common problem on VW and they have a 12 year corrosion warranty, well Passats do and a lot of people have been getting their front wings done for free even on 03 cars upwards, if the paint is original you may have a chance or even a goodwill gesture, the car does not have to have a full VWSH either just original paint, it may be an issue with the foam under the liner which stores water and corrodes the wing from the inside out. Worth a shot and if they do offer a 50% goodwill gesture which seems to be the norm in the first instance they have basically admitted liability then you can escalate it to VW UK who may authorise a 100%, you have to push it though and don't take the dealers fob off, the dealers are fully aware of it and VW changed their stance last year and started coughing up 100% on the 12 year anti corrosion warranty. Oh just realised you said arches, this is mainly for front wings but it's still worth a shot.
  4. Checking MoT and Tax on a car

Lol, according to that my MK2 MOT expired August 2013!! try about 6 years before that.
  5. Bands at Dubshed

My nephew is in a metal band, sure they would play if you need bands?
  6. Bringing a car in from England

Better off flying over and ferry back, you can get cheap flights to most major cities, Liverpool is probably the easiest as you could get picked up at the airport and pop back on the ferry, minimal fuel costs that way or alternatively Glasgow, same set up, have done it a few times over the years and was great when you could get the old Liverpool to Belfast overnight freight ferry with cabin and food included but it is a lot more expensive now, budget £300 all in to get a car back.
  7. What car you looking for?

  9. Faulty Samsung TV s

What series was it as I have just bought a 'H' series one?
  10. New Tax rules, taxing a sorned car?

Just had my first DD come out for the Passat £15 odd it was, much easier this way and no big lump sum and if you sell your car try and sell just before the DD is up as you pay in advance and then cancel the DD when the car is gone, simples.
  11. Microsoft Windows December Updates...

There have been a lot of reports of issues even with the fixes, last resort is a reinstall.
  12. Microsoft Windows December Updates...

If you are on about the update KB3004394 then yes I had some funky stuff going on, couldn't install new updates, graphics issues and restarts, got rid of it last night and all seems fine now, they apparently released KB3024777 to sort it which is the update that wouldn't update on mine until I removed the original one. If you have KB3004394 best get rid of it, if you have try doing a system restore.
  13. Good man, welcome back, any goodies while you have been away?
