    Might the coilovers be up for sale then once the air goes in? Ive done the tt/r32 front arms/hub swap on my Anni and the front shocks are knackered so im on the hunt for some decent front shocks
  4. I use a rubber mallet. few taps on the cap and it comes off by hand. hand tightening is more than ample for putting them back on. Im under the impression that these plastic tools will just round after a while?

So the anniversary's front wings are rotten around the outside lip, standard issue problem area on mk4s where the large bit of sponge in the wheel arch collects water and keeps it there pressed against the metal. Im wondering has anyone used pattern replacement wings and how did they fit? I bought wings for my vento 3-4 years ago and they were a shockingly bad fit, the bodyshop had to butcher them to get doors to close etc. Just wanted to see if it was worth saving for the OEM original wings from TPS Im ruling out scrapyard wings as they will presumably be just as rusty!

    Glad to see im not the only one with a mk5 gti itch that needs scratching! Although ive no intentions to ever sell the anniversary, someday im bound to have to lol So ive worked out the costs are as follows over a year based on my 15000miles per annum - Mk4 tdi @50mpg - 1365.83l @ 110.9p/l = 1,512.48 Mk5 gti @35mpg - 1948.45l @ 104.9p/l = 2,043.92 Tax is £145 for Mk4, Mk5 is £265 so a total difference of £651.44 over the year. Heart says MK5, pocket says Mk4! Think i'll stick with the torque for now........

    This was my best friends dads car, i still cant believe after all these years hes finally sold the old girl!!! Glad to see its gone to a good home where it will get actually cleaned lol Looking forward to seeing the progress on this one!!

Ive the full mk3 tdi conversion here would convert any petrol mk3 into a derv if you could find a solid one, even a gti perhaps? £300 would lift everything you'd need - engine, gearbox, pedals, loom, ecu, clocks, gear selector etc. Could even be persuaded to do the conversion for your for the right money

    £6000 for 100000 miles of motoring is one of the reasons we all drive volkswagens. As much as people complain about the mk3, as long as the rust is kept at bay they keep trucking on. Plus it's even less than £6k since you'll still get say £6-700 selling it? Cheap as chips!

    I wonder would a judging area like what they have at edition 38 be of any advantage? Just thinking out loud since when my car was judged i wasnt near it, so in theory it would have lost marks on engine, interior etc since the judges wouldnt have been able to see inder the bonnet etc (not that the beetles interior or engine would have won many points lol ) It would be hard to stand next to your car all day waiting on a judge. This isnt a dig at the judges, they have a very hard job to do without having to try and chase an owner! But i spent most of the day inside the main hall chatting to people. Obviously it brings with it a health and safety issue with cars moving about on site, and the indoor cars wouldnt need to go outside to get judged etc. Loving the ipad/iphone scanner system, great step in the right direction!!     Are these pics before or after paint? Im not a fan of the black onthe front end, IMO it doesnt follow the lines of the car, id prefer it red. but the rest of it looks spot on

    Lol Clark I'm waiting till payday on Friday then I'm ordering polybushes and new topmounts. Then I'll try and get a dry Saturday to get it all fitted along with the coilovers Currently researching how I'm going to get a rear raceland brace to fit along with the oem dog guard. Supposed to make a great change to the handling, worth it for less creaking alone!!! And cheaper than a rear arb which is out of the budget at the mo Cheers for the comments folks

    I haven't had it near any other dyno yet. I was hoping for more based on that sort of idea, might try and get it the next time a dyno day comes up elsewhere. Not much to report on the build thread front, just been driving it and enjoying it. Still lots I'd love to do but saving for a house is restricting the plans lol Did manage to get a nice arty sunrise shot down Island hill the other morning
