  1. Yeah it was a scorcher in the end. I slept in the Passat, full mattress, dry and warm. Few of the lads woke up in their tents in pools of water. Camping fail yo! Sent from my Mk2's central computer.
  2. I'm all over this like a rash again this year. Let's hope there's less rain the night before! Holy jaysus! Sent from my Mk2's central computer.
  3. It was filled in the past, which probably contributed to the rust getting to this stage. Moisture in the filler etc. Here's a closer shot of what it was like... Nasty business! Sent from my Mk2's central computer.
  4. Brought the Passat for NCT this morning. Failed on a leaking rear brake caliper so need to get that sorted ASAP. Brake performance at 60%. Sourced a set of genuine amber small bumper indicator lenses for the Golf. Cut up a (perfect) sacrificial headliner into eight pieces for some colour sampling for the black interior project. I know an upholstery guy who said he will spray my existing headliner with special paint. He reckons much easier than using fabric due to the contours etc. Hoping to drop them to him today to start some paint sampling! Also took delivery of some black headliner trim clips and black visor receivers. Black interior project in full effect! Ro
  5. Photos! Thank you Tapatalk! From when I bought it... How it is now... With its big cousin! Stop the rot progress! Can't wait to get it back! Sent from my Mk2's central computer.
  6. Thanks Connor. I must say I'm smitten with it, really love it. It was running a bit lumpy when I bought it but after diagnosing a ball bearing in one of the vac tubes (no less) and a small advance of the timing, it's running fab now. Castlewellan will be it's first show, all going well with the bodyman.
  7. Morning lads and lassies. Ronan here from Autostadt. Picked up a Mk2 Golf last year and have been tipping away at it. Currently away for bodywork and hoping to have it back for the 'Wellan. It's a 1.3 carbohydrate, 3dr, 5spd and was recently rolling roaded at a whopping 59.9bhp (up from factory figure of 54bhp!). Just ticked over 100k miles, 1990 reg, original Irish car, family owned until my ownership. Black in colour, and rusty orange in places! That's all for now! Ro Edit: I should add that the mk2 is a weekender and show taxi. My daily is a 2003 Passat Variant 1.9tdi 4motion! Any way to add photos to this thread directly from the phone as opposed to by a link? Ro
