  4. MK4 Golf GTi 1.8T

Hi Glen Congrats on the purchase of a mk5. I seen it when I was over at the mother in laws last week. Looks really well in white. I have a 5 door black one myself It's Gareth, Ceara from down the streets husband btw G
  5. New tyres required

I use Toyo Proxes on my MK5 GTI and to be honest I think they are brilliant. Wouldn't go anywhere else but Wells Tyres In Bangor. If your interested in a quote give Alan a call there and tell him Gareth his neighbour recommended. He will look after you
  6. Hi

thanks @Coltwee I appreciate the advice. I will get a few pics up once it is sorted
  7. Hi

Thanks for the advice pal. It is something I haven't done before so I'll give it a go and see what happens. I've a bit of work to do with the suspension as the knocking is in fact coming from the front and not the back so I think it is the top mounts but time will tell on that one. Alan Wells at Wells tyres in bangor is my neighbour so he's going to take it into work over the next couple of weeks and figure it out. After that I want to replace most of the parts in the suspension.. Bushes, arms etc without touching the major parts. Hopefully freshen it up a little then I will start to look at the engine. For 10 year old and 93k it still goes and feels like new and I know it has been well maintained. Something to work on though Cheers
  8. Hi

Thanks Lads Yea I will do. It is a bit of a project at the moment with some work needed done. Is there anyone in Northern Ireland specializes in engine bay cleaning? Is this something I would be better doing myself. The car has been well maintained over the last 10 years but the engine bay could do with a bit of TLC. Cheers Gareth
  9. Hi

Hi Folks Thought I would throw in an introduction. I've been on the site for a while but haven't really said hello. Bought myself a MK5 GTI a month ago and given that it's 10 year old you may see me on here asking questions a lot. It is a pretty mint car but not without it's small problems. I've been around Titanic Dubs and a few other shows over the years and I'll definitely be around a few more. Gareth
  10. Mk5 GTI Knocking

Thanks pal Funny I am taking it in on Saturday morning to get the exhaust welded/replaced. I'll check this out. Thanks for the reply
  11. Hi I believe this is my first post on the site but I've been watching and reading for a while. I recently bought a 2006 mk5 GTI a month ago privately and although it is a very sound example I knew it was going to need a bit of TLC. Has anyone ever experienced a loud knocking sound at low speeds and sometimes even idle? I replaced the subframe bolts at the weekend but now the noise seems to be coming from the rear. I have a blow out on the exhaust and brake hoses to replace that I am aware off and recently the rear passenger side calipar has been replaced. Any suggestions? Gareth
