  1. No other symptoms, does pull strongly through the revs. It can be a mare to start in the mornings or when been sitting all day. After it does though it starts on the button. It's always been this way though, the cutting out is a recent addition lol.
  2. Afternoon all, Just looking some ideas as to what could be the issue with my mk2 8v. The engine idles very low, barely ticking over. When stopping and coming down through the gears sometimes it would cut out completely. Many thanks Mark
  3. mark two golf grills how do you wear your

OEM for me, like both styles but on my small bumper everything else is pretty original so grill stays the same. Have been tempted to try different styles though lol
  4. just a wee drop

    That is looking great
  5. Silver 86 MK2 GTI k-jet

Have been following this thread and I'm sure it was a hard decision to sell it after all you have done. Car looks fantastic
  6. Mk2 GTi 8v

Thanks, yeah, I always wanted a mk2 with big bumpers from when I was young, but this ain't the car for doing it lol, would be criminal to change it
  7. Mk2 GTi 8v

Yeah, was indeed. Was my first time there, blew away by the variety on show lol
  8. Mk2 golf sunroof seal

Cheers for the tips, turns out is was the windscreen rubber, only the slightest amount of water getting in, but it was then building up in the foam until saturated then it dripped down beside fuse box. Sunroof seal still needs done as current seal has sunk down, looks bad more than anything else lol. Door seals could do with replacing too, just going to keep an eye out for a set
  9. Evening all, I was wanting to ask if replacing the sunroof seal is a pain in the ass fiddly job or pretty straight forward. Needing to get mine done to see if its the cause of a water leak in the car. Many thanks Mark
  10. Mk2 GTi 8v

I'm near Greenisland, girlfriend lives in Ballyclare though so no doubt you have seen me on my travels lol . Thanks, definately getting there. Last week it got coolant system flushed out, new heater matrix and new thermostat. Running cooler now and also will have a bit of heat come winter lol
  11. Mk2 GTi 8v

Thought it was time I updated this thread lol, not that a whole lot has been done. It was left into Blairs to get the bootlid and windscreen scuttle rust sorted out. There was more work involved than originally thought, but Andrew done an amazing job on it. Wheels were also refurbed having the lips polished, Few minor mechanical things getting sorted this week, mainly to do with cooling and heating system then hopefully it will be going back to Blairs to get the side of car repainted all in time for castlewellan.
  12. Mk2 GTi 8v

  13. Mk2 Golf GTI

  14. Mk2 GTi 8v

Yeah, its certainly fit going car, no big plans at minute but that could change lol, just to freshen it up really, needs little bit of attention to paintwork then just enjoy the car
  15. Mk2 GTi 8v

Thought it was about time I got some pics up of my recently acquired mk2. Some of you no doubt already know the car. As soon as I seen ad for it I knew I had to have the car lol, a car I've always wanted to own. Was really impressed at the condition of the car and my plans were really just to get it on the road again. It needed a few bits and pieces done but as the list was getting longer I decided to bite the bullet and really do it properly lol. Its had shed load of work done on the running gear, basically new suspension all round, new brakes with mk3 calipers, had gear selector kit fitted, a bit of welding and lots of other wee bits and pieces. I've been using the car as a daily driver and it drives beautifully, people can't believe how old the car is when in it. It loves the back roads lol. Have had to put it into garage though, water has been getting in round the windscreen and round the electrics and fusebox, so back in the mk4 for now til get some funds built up for repairs. No doubt there will be more done over winter in preparation for next year, will keep this updated.
