  1. Sold the other day, still planning on another, see what pans out
  2. Well I know someone selling one @loeb haha. Been trying to change the gearbox mount all week but havn't found a tool that lets me get enough purchase on the 17mm bolt yet, why is everything always a git. Linkages will be done tomorrow and hopefully that tightens it up
  3. Well looks like I'll just be sticking with the blue 8v until it's sold, sorting a few things in the meantime like the gearbox mount and linkages, if I can get the damned old ones off. Can't get a decent price for the 16v, with it not running I'd not want to invest too heavily into it and not get the money back kind of thing. Especially since I've got the next project car picked out and waiting for the space, another 8v though
  4. Bit of an update, been driving the golf more and more, faults list grows a little longer haha new gearbox mount and linkages on the way to help shifting as its pretty loose, checked linkages by hand and surprised it can change gear at all. Cars still for sale, but I've been offered a friends 16v to use for parts like leather seats, headliner, rear window regulators and tyres, it broke down on Sunday and won't turn over. So my choice is leave my 8v how it is and try to sell and try to get the 16v running, or just strip the 16v for the parts for mine and scrap the rest. Either way been offered the 16v cheap enough to take it
  5. Another Mk3, 3 door, have found it already haha
  6. Today was spent with a friend and a polisher, results are pretty good for sure, pleased with how its turned out. Time has come to sell this one though to make way for another project car, so will be on gumtree etc shortly if anyones interested
  7. The seat cover may look naff as hell, especially with none on the rear, but it'll do haha
  8. Had enough of getting stabbed, so 50p car sponge, parcel tape and a seat cover over the top for the meantime haha photo upload sites
  9. MOT retest Past! just need to sort the tax and I can actually use it on the road, be handy for collecting parts for it that don't fit in the mini haha
  10. Legend @clrrk, option 2 looks good, think it'd look cool with those leon seats too, more modern for sure. If I can find someone to do the welding looks like that'll be the new plan
  11. Did a bit of research, looks like it is possible, but as I've only basic tools etc I'd need it done somewhere, welding etc involved most likely. Much want lol
  12. They're sold anyway, but a set of MK2 Leon seats are on gumtree, not sure what it would take to get them to fit but they'd be good step up if they would. You're always a few major steps ahead @loeb lol
  13. Not a huge amount of progress, the locknuts arrived and I've changed the top mount, so just the steering gaiter to go and it should be Moted this week. Toying with the idea of bora highline seats in it, sets come up pretty cheap and I believe they'll fit with some modification? be a good step up, then find a set of leather doorcards and it'd be sorted
  14. Oh no don't tell me that @jez_monkey I'll be hounding @Veedubboy for it haha. Still nowhere near finished cleaning it, but that really hasn't made a world of difference. Its not showing any other signs, not overheating or anything either, will be doing a good flush of it after its actually passed MOT, got it started last night, one of the connectors in that large connector infront of the engine had broken off so solder a new wire in just for it, pretty sure thats what happened on the ay out of the MOT center as that connector is pretty lose fitting
  15. If I could find/afford a vr6 it would be going in there haha its ok, it now won't start again. Think I've it sussed, the big wiring connector seems to come apart at the lightest touch, but I may have now broken 2 of the connectors so it won't start. Not a fantastic day. I was thinking that seems like headgasket to me, no @loeb?
